File Access Settings

This section discusses the options displayed on the File Access tab for a server profile. The check-box options on this tab can reflect three distinct states, checked û enabled, unchecked û disabled and shaded û use default setting. When displaying the shaded state, the presence of a check mark indicates the default setting that will be used.

Initial Directory

This option determines the directory in which the user will be located when first selecting to navigate files on this server in the file dialog box. Leaving this field blank will start the user in the default login directory defined by the server.

Hide Files with Names Starting with a Period

This option allows you to hide files beginning with a period character. Typically, configuration files on UNIX platforms are identified in this way.

Resolve Link File Locations

This option determines the actual target for UNIX link files by attempting to change directory using the link name. This may be required if symbolic links are used as short-cuts to other directories.

Verify Files Written

Following a successful save, each file is transferred back to the PC and compared. This option provides an extra level of security when editing important files.

Set ASCII as the Default Transfer Type

This option sets the default transfer type selected in the File Open dialog box to ASCII. This is required when opening files from non UNIX servers, such as VMS and AS/400, when text files must be transferred as ASCII to be correctly formatted with line breaks. This option is not required on the HPe3000 as Programmer Studio uses the MPE build parameters to determine the correct file type.

Disable Initial Directory Listing in the File Dialog Box

This option prevents the initial directory listing being returned when changing servers in the File dialog box. This can be especially useful when the initial directory contains hundreds of files.
